This is the perfect horoor movie. I loved almost everything about it. The acting was average, that is probably the only thing I didn't think was perfect. The direction was some of the best direction I have seen in the last couple decades. One of Hitchcock's best achievments.

Although time has taken much of it's effect, it's still very well made in every aspect. Perkins is chilling in the lead role.

Anthony Perkins role as Norman bates in Psycho is astounding. After watching this movie I could imagine no one else being able to play Norman Bates as well. Hitchcock also had a great score and supporting cast that make this movie a classic.

One of the biggest American Classics!
This Alfred Hitchcock's masterpiece is totally scary...And maybe the most scarriest of all!
It has a great plot, a lot of turnails in the story and Anthony Perkin's great performance!
And the only thing that makes this story totally scary besides Anthony's role, its the score...it really keeps you at the edge of your seat..I never heard so suspensive music in the complete life...it really its heart stopping music...I like the ending explanion of that "mother" behavior...It was totally out of the blue but really intelligent
This movie has the all known screaming and knife shower scene...I mean how many times had you see this cliche but see it in the original movie give you a bunch of emotions!
OMG the corpse was really unbelievable!
But I'm not interesting on watching the two sequels because I dont want to ruin this classic by the I-almost-sure-that-this- movies-are-going-to-suck-big-time-trying-to-recreated-this-original-sucess movied sequels!

Its extremely overrated...it would hav been a very good thriller in 1960's but now its jus another bad movie.. I guessed exactly what the main suspense of the movie would be five minutes into the film. WATCH IT FOR THE SAKE OF WATCHING IT AND FOR THE BRILLIANT BACKGROUND SCORE...

Anthony Perkins gives one of the best performances ever as Norman Bates, the seemingly innocent boy with a psychotic mother. People were actually afraid to talk to him after seeing "Psycho" because they thought he really was Norman. This is one of the best horror movies ever--not because it's gory (it's not, really), but because it is believable. A true classic and one of Hitchcock's best movies. I only wonder WHY Perkins was never nominated for an Oscar...but c'est la vie.

After two murders at the Bates motel... Marion Crane's boyfriend and sister are able to locate the motel and decide to investigate the Bates creepy house. But when Marion's sister checks downstairs in the cellar she gets the fright of her life when she discovers the remains of Norman's mother and suddenly Norman appears from the shawdows dressed in his mother's clothes. This would mean that Norman was the one who commited the murders all along under the control of his mother's soul...and his conversations with his mother were all in his head... HITCHCOCK RULES!!!

Hithcock's best work it's the main reason why I iddealize him. This film has great shock value and storyline. Their is a relationship between Norman Bates and his mother that is so haunting and brilliant, the score is also original. Its the best film of the 1960's

An honest classic film. The "crème de la crème" of it's genre. An utterly brilliant film for Hitchcock. Janet Leigh is undeniably dialed in with her character. Leigh portrays Marion Crane, supported by the brilliant Anthony Perkins, as the legendary icon, Norman Bates. An incredible adaptation of the novel. The scene with Perkins dressed as his mother, Norma, when he enters to stab Vera Miles, Crane's sister, is so unbelievably frightening, along with Janet Leigh in the shower scene.

My personal favourite of Hitchcock films to date. It introduced the horror genre in a whole other way. The suspense and camera usage in this film is brilliant. Although, there were sequels made after this, it did not take away any value from this film. What is there to prove that this film is undeniably successful, is the fact that if you have not already seen the film you are somehow already dialed in with the characters and plot in itself, knowing the story and character Norman Bates, who in my opinion, is another horror legendary icon.

Some of the most classic lines in this film, also. Brilliant, undeniably brilliant.

    Psycho is brilliant.
Hitchcock gave this film excellent direction, and the acting is superb. Especially Anthony Perkins playing the role of Norman Bates.
The direction is excellent, from the intense facial close-ups to the distant and unusual camera angles.
    It's a must see!

Alfred Hitchcock created the most suspenseful and most nail-biting movie in cinema history. This film has everything from the creepy old house above the motel to the infamous shower scene.

there is no suspense in a man dressed as a woman and it's not scary. i don't care if it's considered a classic, it's just silly. hitchcock is one of the worst directors ever and anthony perkins is one of the worst actors ever. this movie sucks. the shower scene should go on a top overrated movie scenes list, after seeing this, i can definelty take a shower. so what if he killed the "main character" in 45 minutes, a lot of people do this

Probably Alfred Hitchcock's masterpiece, even when compared against his best other work. The music soundtrack (strings only), cinematography and characters make for a thriller film that has stood the test of time.

"Norman Found Them Dead Together. In Bed." Since I vividly remember the remake of "Psycho" I had to SINK my vision into watching the original film. Hmm... Is it just me or was Norman Bates a hottie???? I guess I will pass because he has multi personality disorder and oh yea he is.. PSYCHO!!!! A thrilling film that just gets more classic with time. Hitchcock is and will always be forever a mastermind of suspense when it comes to his film. Everyone knows the famous "shower scene" but I felt that it could have been more suspenseful and drawn out. I love the scenic view of the "wood cabin rooms" in the motel glowing the ominous light of the "Bates Motel" sign. Not to mention the "creepy house" in the background. A wonderful unforgettable cast makes this film a must see.

Who can forget that scary but mesmerizing tune that everyone knows as the Psycho theme.
Before this movie no Director attepted to kill off the main character(well -known) in under 30 minutes.

The sound effects of the shower scene was a knife slicing a melon.
So Janet was not scared during the filming as it was done in separate takes but she said it seemed so realistic when she saw the final product she was never able to take a shower again.
