Plot: Sophie, a diligent teenage girl working in her family's hat shop, finds her life thrown into turmoil when a handsome-but-mysterious wizard named Howl sweeps her off her feet. This innocent encounter e...( read more read more... )nrages the vain and conniving Witch of the Waste, who transforms Sophie into a 90-year-old woman. Sophie's efforts to break the curse bring her to Howl's magical moving castle, where she befriends Markl, Howl's apprentice, and the hot-headed fire demon Calcifer. Her love and support have a major impact on Howl, who can be maddeningly self-indulgent and singularly noble. He defies royal orders to participate in a meaningless war and risks his life to bring peace to the kingdom.

This movie is so awesome. If you get a chance read the book and the book's sequel Castle in the Sky

I'll need to see Howl's Moving Castle again to really feel justified in saying that it was mediocre and lacked the pizazz and razzmatazz of the other Miyazaki movies, but for now that is what I reckon.

Aren't girlfriends great? Eh, this movie was in between Mononoke and Spirited Away, as it still seemed overly long, but it was more comical and exciting. Still though, I probably would rather sleep, or just sit around thinking about sleep for two hours rather than watch it again.

Parts of the story were a little tricky to follow, possibly due to bad translating, but overall I enjoyed it.

A great piece of work, able to steal the truth from our minds and replace it with a world of magic and wonder

Miyazaki's worst film, with characters with almost no substance to them and a trodding plot. The war that we are supposed to fear falls flat because it has very little immediate effect on the main characters until they put themselves in harms way. Top it off with absolutely atrocious pacing. It looks good, but so do Michael Bay films.

Despite the story is a little bit confusing and beyond previous works from Miyazaki, it's an incredibly beautiful and tender movie. Scenery, artwork and soundtrack are simply stunning.

I can watch this over and over.. but my main problem is the animation (could have more frames), and the rushed ending. A nice version of Diana Wynne Jones' story. :)

I absolutely love this movie.Amazing...!Howl is very handsome haha. Sophie is a bravely girl. For the sake of Howl, she was not afraid and try to help him.It is consummated ending because Howl and Sophie were together.

I had good impressions about it before I watched it... But I could never find it in any of the stores and when I missed out on all the chances that I could have watched it for free at some places...

But now that I own it, it's basically the Studio Ghibli movie that I watch the most.

This is so amazing. The animation, the story, the characters, they're all so loveable and intruiging. I love everything about this film, especially Howl. Definitely a movie worth watching, but worth watching at least twice because it's so full of action that you can miss some stuff.

Absolutey great. The book and the movie connect. And although a british author mad HMC, the Japanesse directer was finamanal. Beautiful. Love it to much, can't help but ponder about it. Not too mention, HMC is a disney movie. One of those great ones. Really good watch. Try to look for it at the movie store.
