Classic... comics spirit is maintained, Barbarella´s suits are awesome :D The movie is fun, accepting the sexuality is one of the main ideas on my opinion. Cosmic!

I used to have the origianl poster on my basement wall while my dad was still alive. I never had any idea what kind of movie was at the time because I was just a little kid. How would I have known? But yeah, this is one of the greatest sexploitation movies I have ever seen. It was truly absolutely ridiculous, but in a great way. (There's ridiculous like Death Bed and now there's ridiculous like most Grindhouse films.) This movie did exactly like it planned to do and it certainly delivered.
I do find it funny that Jane Fonda is such a staunch, vocal feminist and she is just used as an object in this movie. Yes, you get to see her naked and yes that is awesome. But what might be considered worse are some of the costumes she was in. Those were more provacative than nudity. Seriously? Seethrough breast holes? What does that serve whatsoever? Don't even take into account the fact that this culture doesn't have pleasurable traditional sex. (Although one of my favorite scenes involved the leader of the underground participating in future sex. Simple joke that I dug.)
The story is not something you should be following too closely. Really, it makes little to no sense, but that's really okay. You shouldn't be watching Barbarella for the fact that it is an awesome sci-fi movie. That's not what this movie is at all about. The special effects are just plain ol' silly and that's what makes this movie work. I heard Robert Rodriguez is going to be remaking this movie with Rose McGowan. I hope this isn't a super-big budget Steven Spielberg remake. I doubt it with someone like Rodriguez at the helm, but there's always that nervousness. Perhaps the best part of the movie are the interiors of Barbarella's ship. Having shag carpeting covering all inches of your ship is a heck of a design choice. I'm not saying it's a good one. It's just a choice. -

This movie is so bad, that it's actually funny and entertaining. This, and the 60s soft-porn feeling with the unbelievable beautiful Jane Fonda has made this a cult classic. This is also the reason why I watched it in the first place. It's worth watching just to see Fonda in all the extremely sexy (and minimalistic) outfits. She change about every 10 minutes, so we don't get bored. A very enjoyable watch in this horny dude's opinion.

MCT:January 16, 2008Too be fair i've only seen the first 30 minutes or so, but i'm pretty sure it would not have got better. If i'm wrong please tell me!! While I started watching I really thought the fact that Jane Fonda looks amazing and is going to every conceivable way of getting her kit off, that i would enjoy this film. Not so. If you want a really cheesy sci-fi film then this isn't that bad, but say you actually like dialogue and a good story line then you will probably be disappointed.

From 'killer' parakeets to an angel and even the beginning of Duran Duran the bands name. It's a movie to see once just so you can say you have.

Fun movie. Has every conceivable 'trap' and peril to put a heroine in. The dolls are the worst. Barbarella's an innocent, beautifull lady stumbling through the universe. She usually gets her clothes shredded every 20 minutes.

A funny piece of sci-fi with a psychodelic atmosphere.
This film is more "camp" than anything else, but the touch of erotism of Jane Fonda make this more enjoyable. -

A Sex kitten traveling through space in a fur-lined spaceship, I mean how cool is that.
What I like about this film is it's deliberateness.
What I love most about Barbarella is how hard it tries,
It's like Bono.

Jane Fonda sleeps her way across an alien planet looking for Duran Duran and falls in with some loopy revolutionaries. The visuals are over-the-top, the effects are cheesy, Fonda is sexy, and the writing is naïve in that endearing 60s sci-fi way. A fun way to spend 90 minutes.

Pretty Good movie for it's time. Has some comedy, some T & A, and some action snd adventure. It's a lod classic so bare in mind when you watch it when it was made. :)

funny sexy. if you watch this expecting class and high scale acting turn it off now. if you just need a good laugh, just shake your head in amazment that this ever got made
